Why Should I Consider Corrective Hair Restoration Surgery? By Bernard Arocha, MD on May 10, 2016

There are many reasons why individuals who have had hair restoration surgery decide to undergo an additional, “corrective” procedure. Also known as revision hair transplant surgery, corrective hair restoration is typically performed for patients who are dissatisfied with the results of the initial procedure or have experienced some type of complication from the previous surgery that needs to be addressed.

With that in mind, one of the more common reasons men and women consider corrective hair restoration procedures is to attain a more “natural” appearance. Remember, hair transplantation techniques today are much more advanced than they were several years ago. Treatments such as “hair plugs” and others that may have yielded less than natural-looking results for some patients are now considered by many to be outdated procedures. More precise techniques that are now available, such as FUT and FUE, offer many patients greater benefits and outcomes that can look as though the hair had never been lost in the first place.

Corrective hair restoration surgery will typically require the removal of some of the hair follicles that were transplanted during the initial procedure. Once this has been accomplished, new hair follicles will be taken (usually from the sides or back of the head) and relocated to the areas of the scalp that have been targeted for treatment. This process is completed with an artist’s precision, taking into account the location and placement of the hair follicles that should provide the most natural-looking results. Advanced techniques combined with Dr. Arocha’s many years of experience and skills with hair restoration can ultimately yield results much more in keeping with your original goals. Dr. Arocha approaches corrective hair restoration procedures with two major priorities: making the procedure as safe as possible and providing you with results that look so natural that it appears as though you never suffered from hair loss in the first place.

If you have had hair replacement surgery in the past and you feel that the results look uneven, unnatural, or simply not the way you had hoped, we encourage you to contact Dr. Bernardino Arocha to schedule a complimentary consultation.
