Is There a “Baldness Cure?”

Is there any way to cure baldness? If you’re like one of the many people affected by hereditary hair loss, you may be asking yourself that question constantly. Thin, balding hair can be embarrassing and lead to issues in self-esteem and a loss of self-confidence, leading many men, and even women, to seek out a solution.

Modern hair restoration has made huge strides in treating hereditary hair loss and giving you a fuller, natural-looking head of hair again. Dr. Arocha and his staff at Arocha Hair Restoration & Transplant Center are committed to getting you the best care in hair restoration. Through a number of options, Dr. Arocha can restore your thinning hair and your self-confidence.

Hair Restoration Surgery

A couple of different options exist for modern hair restoration procedures. Follicular unit extraction (FUE) and follicular unit transplantation (FUT) are the most common procedures, and both can yield dramatic results in hair restoration.

FUT involves removing a strip from either of the back or side of the head and removing the follicular units for transplantation. Each follicular unit is transplanted into the targeted balding areas. FUT procedures leave a thin scar from the strip excision, but it can be covered up easily with surrounding hair. Because FUT uses your own hair, you can rest assured that the results will look all-natural and blend right in with the rest of your hair.

The FUE method is similar to FUT but has differences that make it an advantageous procedure for the right patient. Whereas FUT removes an entire strip of hair at once, FUE involves the removal of follicular units individually using a handheld punch. This means scarring is minimal and hardly noticeable, so you can get the results you want without the telltale scars.

Dr. Arocha also uses the newest advances in modern hair restoration procedures, including the ARTAS Robotic System to assist in his FUE procedures. Removing and placing each follicular unit by hand can be time-consuming and imperfect. The ARTAS system allows Dr. Arocha to speed up the procedure time and reach a level of perfection that was previously impossible.

Nonsurgical Options

Dr. Arocha recommends a two-pronged approach to hair restoration, starting with surgical procedures and continuing with medical treatment. After a hair restoration procedure, Propecia and Rogaine can be used to great effect to ensure your results are long-lasting. Propecia is an oral medication that prevents further hair loss, while Rogaine is a topical medication containing minoxidil, which can slow hair loss and strengthen existing follicles.

So, is there a true “baldness cure?” Unfortunately not. However, numerous options do exist to remedy hair loss and restore your hair without noticeable signs of a procedure. Call Arocha Hair Restoration & Transplant Center today at 713-526-HAIR for a complimentary consultation.
