There is always a scar anytime surgery is performed on the skin. This applies to whether the harvest is obtained by strip harvesting or FUE (follicular unit extraction). The scars usually are only minimally visible when proper care is fallowed, both intraoperatively and post-operatively.In strip harvesting, proper intra-operative technique employs closing in two layers, the deep layer serves to minimize surface tension. Post- operatively, the patient is advised not to lift or stretch heavily until the scar matures. The application of tension on a premature scar will lead to stretching of the scar.
