Hair Restoration: Myth and Legend By Bernard Arocha, MD on March 17, 2015

Throughout the centuries mankind has hopelessly searched for that elusive fountain of youth. Mythology has long associated strength and virility with a full head of hair, as illustrated in the classic Sampson and Delilah tale of love and betrayal. Certain cultures, past and present, have revered the wearing of long hair as a spiritual and physical expression of power and status. In the sixties, the counter culture wore long hair as a political statement and a rejection of established values and norms. Fairy tales, such as, Rapunzel and her long blond hair illustrate our continued infatuation and fascination with hair.

Hoping to capitalize on our latent desire for a thicker, fuller head of hair, many products and services have been formulated, created and applied to dissipate our unquenchable desire for that elusive full head of hair. Modern science has provided a bevy of goods and not so good products that for one reason or another seem to fall short of the mark. Recent advances in modern hair restoration procedures have dramatically narrowed the gap for finding that elusive fountain of youth. Thanks in large part to micro hair restoration techniques for grafting, longing for a natural approach to fuller hair has finally arrived. Because these advanced procedures utilize the patients very own natural hair, the results are phenomenal. Although skill is required to achieve the best aesthetic look for patients, the procedure is relatively simple and safe.

While we still may find ourselves searching for that elusive fountain of youth, it is nice to know that we can now rejuvenate our self and our self-esteem with the latest hair restoration procedures.
